The Best Minute: On being angry with God, courage, and uncomfortability
2 QUOTES FROM OTHERS
I. Paul Tripp on being angry with God:
“Here’s the reality: most people who are angry with God are angry with him for being God. They’re not angry because he has failed to deliver what he promised. They’re angry because he has failed to deliver what they have craved, expected, or demanded. When awe of self replaces awe of God, God ceases to be your Lord and is reduced to being your indentured servant.”
II. Malcolm Gladwell on finding courage:
“Courage is not something that you already have that makes you brave when the tough times start. Courage is what you earn when you’ve been through the tough times and you discover they aren’t so tough after all.”
2 IDEAS FROM ME
I. The biggest threat to getting better at something has less to do with natural ability and more to do with sitting in uncomfortability. Learning new things is hard because it takes time to work through the frustrations of not knowing things. Your ability to persevere in uncomfortability will determine your ability to learn new things.
II. The early bird doesn’t get the worm, the bird who finds the worm gets the worm. Doing what you’re best at when you’re at your best will lead you to the worm quicker than anything else.
I RANDOM FACT
Snowflakes should be called slow-flakes.
Snowflakes falling at 2-4 mph can take up to 1 hour to reach the ground.
