⏱️ How to communicate effectively

💡 1 IDEA FROM ME

Effective communication is properly understood. If someone misunderstands what you are saying, you have to close the gap.

What matters is not what you intend for them to understand, but what they think you are saying. If there is a disconnect between what you are saying and what they are hearing, you must find another way to say it.

What is received by the hearer is what matters, not what you actually say. If what is received is unclear, you must find another way to better communicate it.

💬 1 HELPFUL QUOTE

A Latin proverb on the will to achieve:

“If there is no wind, row.”

📖 1 BRIEF BOOK REVIEW

A Praying Church by Paul E. Miller

This book focuses on creating a praying culture in your church. Miller has also written a book called A Praying Life, and there was a little bit of overlap in this book if you have read that one.

The book was an encouragement when it comes to the importance of prayer and persevering in it. However, it wasn't really until the last few chapters that the book really focused on the "church" part of it.

It was good overall and critiquing a book about prayer is hard. I was hoping for maybe a little bit in terms of creating a bigger prayer culture in your church overall, but again, you probably can't be too pragmatic in a book on this topic.

Still, I was glad to have read it.

💯 1 THING I LIKE

New Balance Roav V1

I purchased a pair of these a few months ago. I use a standing desk with a walking pad underneath (think mini treadmill) and will typically spend about two hours every day at my desk walking while I work.

These shoes are easy to slip on and provide a lot of cushion. The white on the bottom of the shoe is also easy to clean, so even after a few months the shoes still look new. I would definitely purchase again.
