The Best Minute: On viewing your problems, telling stories, and being above average

2 QUOTES FROM OTHERS

I. Alen de Botton how to give your problems proper perspective:

"When you look at the moon, you think, 'I'm really small. What are my problems?' It sets things into perspective. We should all look at the moon a bit more often."

II. Andrew Stanton on the similarities between telling stories and jokes:

“Storytelling is a joke-telling. It's knowing your punchline, your ending. Knowing that everything you're saying from the first sentence to the last is leading to a singular goal.”

2 IDEAS FROM ME

I. Scripture is a unified story that leads to Jesus. You don’t have to read or understand the Old Testament to understand what Jesus came to do. But understanding the Old Testament turns Jesus from a 2D black and white image to a 3D image full of color.

II. Staying on top of your email (including responding in a timely manner) and always showing up on time are two easy ways to standout today. I would be willing to bet you happen to have great respect for the people in your life who do those two things.

1 INTERESTING FACT

Camels don't actually store water in their humps.

Camels can down 30 gallons (113 liters) of water in just 13 minutes. The water is stored in the camel's bloodstream, rather than being stored in its fatty hump, which serves as a source of nourishment when food is scarce.
