The Best Minute: On being great, being wrong, and being productive
2 QUOTES FROM OTHERS
I. John Collins on why good is the enemy of great:
“Good is the enemy of great. And that is one of the key reasons why we have so little that becomes great. We don't have great schools, principally because we have good schools. We don't have great government, principally because we have good government. Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life.”
II. Anne Lamott on creating God in our image:
“You can safely assume you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.”
2 IDEAS FROM ME
I. Being wrong is the only sure way you know you’ve learned something. When was the last time you admitted you were wrong?
II. Don’t confuse busyness with productivity. You can do a lot of stuff and not get anything of value done. Set limits on email, social media, and easily distractible items and do the hard but rewarding work of focusing on what matters.
1 RANDOM FACT
There are no muscles in your fingers.
The muscles that move your fingers are located in the palm and up in the mid-forearm. They’re connected to the finger bones by tendons that pull and move the fingers like the strings of a puppet.
