⏱️ How to grow and be above-average

💡 THOUGHTS FROM ME

I. It is easy to place the responsibility for our personal growth on others.

“My teacher should have taught me that.”

“My church should have discipled me better.”

“My coach should have given me better training.”

And while there may be some truth to that, once we realize an area of deficiency, it is no longer on them but on us if we don't do anything about it.

II. Two simple ways to be an above-average human being:

  • Always show up on time

  • Respond to your emails

If you want people to feel like they matter; value their time and don’t ignore them when they reach out.

💬 1 HELPFUL QUOTE

Carlos Castaneda on the importance of mindset:

“The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same.”

📖 1 BRIEF BOOK REVIEW

Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of Lusitania by Erik Larson

This book covers the last ocean crossing by the British Ocean Liner, Lusitania. It was the fastest and largest passenger ship in the world at the time and was sunk by a German submarine on May 7, 1915. 1,159 of the 1,959 people on board died.

Sobering yet still interesting, the book did a great job exploring what happened on the last voyage of the ship. The amount of detail given as to how things went down was well done. It was also a mini history lesson on elements of World War 1 and naval operations during that time.

Overall, it was a nice read and enjoyable if you like history. I'm glad to have read it.
