⛪️ Practical Church: Why you should send quarterly giving statements - PCN
💡 1 SOLUTION FOR EFFECTIVE MINISTRY
Send out quarterly (instead of yearly) giving statements. At New City, we send out quarterly giving statements as one of the ways to be proactive about our financials with our people. At the same time, it also encourages/reminds people to give.
It allows us to clean up any giving statement questions people might have throughout the year (instead of all at once at the end of the year if you only send one). We have also found people sometimes realize they haven’t given as much as they had thought so far in the year, and will give in as a result of this email.
Below is an example of a recent quarterly giving statement (feel free to use/adapt as needed):
Thank you for your generosity towards New City Church. At the end of this email, you'll find a unique link for accessing your 2023 New City Church Giving Statement for the first half of this year (January - June). Please save the PDF for your tax records as confirmation of your donations during this period.
Below, you will also see our financial numbers through June of this year.
I pray that you have found time to make some enjoyable memories so far this summer. This last quarter at New City has, as always, been a privilege and joy for me (Dylan) to be a part of. We celebrated 4 baptisms in April, and we have the highest number of adults in a community group as a church (92 have actively attended a group this quarter).
So thank you for making it possible for us to continue our mission of helping people meet Jesus and grow in a relationship with him with your generosity.
So far, everything is pretty much on track financially through the first half of the year. This is a great thing! As it shows how God has provided for all of our needs. This is another area in which we are very grateful. Also, note that our actual spending includes our church planting funding going to other churches.

💬 2 HELPFUL QUOTES
I. Charles Spurgeon on holy living:
“Whatever call a man may pretend to have, if he has not been called to holiness, he certainly has not been called to the ministry.”
———————————
II. John Mark Comer on sin and busyness:
“Corrie ten Boom once said that if the devil can’t make you sin, he’ll make you busy. There’s truth in that. Both sin and busyness have the exact same effect—they cut off your connection to God, to other people, and even to your own soul.”

💯 1 PRACTICAL RESOURCE FOR MINISTRY
My all-time favorite task management app is Todosit.
I’ve used a number of different apps to manage my to-do list over the years, and the functionality and ease of use of Todoist are why I love it.
It works great on your phone and your computer and has a hot-key function that makes it really fast and easy to add a task to your list without stopping what you are doing and opening up the app. I highly recommend Todosit.
💪 1 CHALLENGE FOR LIFE AND MINISTRY
Do not check your email before you get meaningful work done.
It will always distract you from the most focused and energized part of your workday. Personally, I don’t check email until 11 AM or noon depending on the day. Email is simply an invited distraction, and if you create a habit of not checking it in the morning, you will get more done than you think.
P.S. Which nursery song would Jesus have heard the most growing up?
Mary Had a Little Lamb.
