8 Things I Saw, Felt, and Heard on Sunday at New City

1. Live Q & A Sunday was a lot of fun

Yesterday was Live Q & A Sunday where people texted in their questions about faith, God, Christianity, etc. My wife Christina and Dave Patchin joined me on stage to answer questions that people texted in during the service.

We do this every 4th of July weekend and it's always a lot of fun.

2. No, we did not know any of the questions ahead of time

On Saturday someone asked me if I had prepped for the questions for our Live Q & A Sunday. I told her I hadn't because I didn't know what the questions where.

So yes, the first time we saw the questions was when we were on stage because we were answering what people were asking!

3. The violin was awesome

Yesterday was Michelle's first time playing her violin with the band. It sounded so good. I ask Kevin (our worship director) if we could have all of the band cut out and just have her playing for one of the songs :).

4. I could do Q & A all day

Although you do want to do a good job and give good answers which can be hard to do sometimes when you don't know what is being asked, I enjoy doing Q & A. I certainly don't know everything (or even a lot of things), but it is fun to try and help in some small way.

5. I really do hope it was helpful

While a lot of people seem to enjoy Live Q & A Sunday, I hope that it is also helpful and not just something different or interesting. My prayer is that in some way it helped people take steps closer to Jesus and to see that God welcomes and encourages our questions.

6. People didn't congregate outside for the first time all summer

Even though it has been pretty hot for a while now, a lot of people have hung out in the parking lot before/after services as opposed to our lobby. I guess the heat combined with the stickiness that came with it finally moved everyone indoors.

7. No sermon prep is also nice

Live Q & A Sunday affords the rare opportunity to be able to speak without actually having to prep anything. Preaching is one of my favorite things to do, but sermon writing/preparation can be tedious at times.

Because I didn't preach last Sunday and we did Q & A yesterday, I actually got two weeks off of sermon prep in a row which was really nice. But I'm excited to get back into it this week.

8. Both services are available online

Because both services were full of different questions (and because multiple asked), both services on are available on our podcast and/or on our website.
